As we approach the end of the year, let us inform you not so much about our new methods, laboratory tests and consultancy that help your business to be successful, but rather about activities of our company group that we are also extremely proud of in addition to our outstanding professional performance: our corporate social responsibility.
At the PET Cup we found a compound that lasts forever!
The PET Cup is one of Hungary's most forward-looking environmental initiatives. In addition to the fact that volunteers (including Eurofins staff) clean the Tisza and its tributaries of garbage on several sections every year, they also draw attention to the phenomenon threatening our surface waters at professional conferences. In the course of the testing procedure supporting the PET Cup, Eurofins Analytical Services Hungary Ltd. found perfluoro-octane sulfonic acid – which belongs to polyfluoroalkyl compounds (PFAS) – in the river above the limit value: one of the oldest substances with eternal life was found in the water.
Amazing birds in spectacular photos
The winners of this year's Birdo Bird Photographer of the Year 2023 photo contest were announced at a grand ceremony in the Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden. The stunning, award-winning entries will be on display until mid-January. It is a special pride for us that Eurofins Analytical Services Hungary Ltd. is one of the main sponsors of the event for the second time this year. Click for the beautiful pictures!
How do employees in a laboratory see the world?
We don't always think about the dangers to our environment, our food, and our lives in general. The photo competition of Eurofins' Hungarian laboratory network draws attention to this phenomenon: plastics in water, air pollution, asbestos, toxic fungi on the ground: so many challenges in beautiful pictures. The photo competition announced among our colleagues highlights the need for continuous laboratory tests in almost all areas of life.
An independent testing laboratory for food safety
The Food Testing Laboratory of Eurofins Analytical Services Hungary Ltd., together with the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih), organized one of the most successful and largest-scale Hungalimentaria conferences of the past decades in mid-April: for two days, the key players of domestic food safety met with nearly 400 participants, 60 lectures and 20 exhibitors, analysing the most important current challenges.
We support young researchers – our cooperation with the Budapest University of Technology
On April 28, the Day of Remembrance of those Injured and Killed in Accidents at Work, employees who were injured, disabled or died in the course of their work were remembered. Eurofins Analytical Services Hungary Ltd. also participated in the event as a sponsor of the conference and exhibition. We also supported the 60th anniversary celebration of BME's Department of Water Utilities and Environmental Engineering and the student competition of BME's Faculty of Chemical and Bioengineering.
Once again, we examined Hungary's Sugar-Free Cake
The work called Kikelet (Springtime), made without added sugar, won this year's One Drop of Attention Foundation's competition entitled Sugar-Free Cake of Hungary – the organizers announced at a press conference held in the Hunting Hall of the Parliament. For the last 12 years, the tests of the winning cake have been carried out by the independent testing laboratory Eurofins Analytical Services Hungary Ltd.
We don't keep it to ourselves: our press releases in 2024
Over the past ten years, we have appeared more than 2,000 times in the Hungarian press, and in 2023 we also managed to perform the average number: one hundred and ten articles dealt with Eurofins' achievements in the online media. Our microplastic measurements at Lake Balaton, the Hungalimentaria conference, PFAS tests, mycotoxin tests and many other interesting topics were reported by the mainstream and professional press. We are also actively present on social media, we have also placed more than a hundred posts on our Facebook page, a significant part of them on our scientific website, Laboratirumi.hu.
Recognitions, awards
One of the most important recognitions of our activities in the field of social responsibility is the Business Superbrands Award, won by only a few dozen Hungarian companies. Eurofins Analytical Services Hungary Ltd. has also been awarded the AAA Platinum Excellence Certificate of Dun & Bradstreet: our company is financially stable, reliable, and the risk of doing business with us is extremely low. Eurofins Analytical Services Hungary Ltd. made it to the finals of the competition Greengage 2023 with as much as two different projects.
